Last Two Weeks in Review

My family and I were on vacation for the last 10 days or so which means I was unable to post much last week and the week before and was not able to post the prior week in review. So this will be a quick two weeks in review from posts made at Values Voter News. Last Week in Review

First, I would like to direct you all to the final debates on this bill from both sides at AvoidtheBias.com for better understanding of what the debate was about and what effects both sides claim this bill will have. As the debate ended there was more clarity and the best of the best came out to argue as both sides were debating the issue to persuade a yes or no vote on this bill in the House.

I have yet to make any posts concerning passage of the Health Care bill which I probably will do this week. One thing I found interesting off the top though is that this bill barely passed and at about 2 pm yesterday both sides caved to pass the bill. A deal was struck with the very White House by pro-life democrats that were holding out there vote until they got assurance that tax payer money would not go to fund abortions. That assurance came in the form of an Executive Order that President Obama promised he would sign after he signs the bill. The Executive Order says that the Hyde Amendment would apply to this bill.

Every respectable pro-life organization (see National Right to Life statement and further links here who has been championing the cause of the unborn since 1973) has condemned the compromise for the simple reason that an Executive Order can not override law and can be repealed any time as evidenced by the Mexico City Policy. If a President can sign an Executive Order and that order override current law then there would be no need for the legislative process. We don't legislate deals like this though the White House in America. This Order if enforced would surely bring a lawsuit and a true pro-life politician will usually chose not to take chances or cut deals over the issue of the unborn. It is clear to many that this legislation was more important to pass for those pro-life democrats than protecting the unborn and for that reason and others pro-life organizations will declare a vote for this bill as a vote against the unborn.

Anyways, as I learn more I will be posting more on this this week. We are getting ready to take a vacation for part of this week and next week so I will squeeze in what I can and will be taking a break from posting for a week except maybe to copy and paste interesting articles from elsewhere. We will see as time allows.

The Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad has been all over the news this past couple of weeks. When you watch video in below links you will note that Focus on the Family intended to keep the ad quiet but those who opposed the ad brought it to national attention by protesting CBS to not air it. These protests have brought the issue before the public in a way that would have not happened if it were not for the protests. This reminds me a bit of Judas. Judas betrays Christ but Christ uses that very betrayal to bring about the salvation of millions. Satan tried to get at Job but God used Satan to write a story that has lasted some 4000 years or so to encourage millions to trust God even when Satan is in the midst.

Also, Values Voter News post at Tim Tebow and God's Providence was #7 in Values Voter News top 10 post of 2009 (see Top 10 most viewed posts of 2009 at Values Voter News). One not of interest is that every time Tim Tebow plays in a football game Values Voter News gets a bunch of hits during that weekend or time. This has been quite consistent since posting this post in August of 2008.

Last week's email update was titled A major upset in the working for Senate seat in Massachusetts replacing Kennedy on Tuesday. World Health Organization ranks the US health care #1. Ministries across America respond to Haiti. and boy was it. On a forum I predicted a healthy 3-6 point win for Brown on Monday morning and he won by 5 points on Tuesday night. I predicted this on the basis of the numbers and energy at each rally on the Sunday before the election when Obama visited Massachusetts to campaign for the Democrat (see Video: Check out these videos from Tea Party endorsed Scott Brown's rally in Massachusetts as Obama campaigns for Coakley on Sunday), Intrade.com, the energized voters for Brown vs those for Coakley which is key to voter turnout, the overall sentiment of the nation and all the polls (see Pollster.com releases live polling chart for last week of Massachusetts Senate race between Coakley and Brown) for the last week or so pointed to a healthy Brown victory. Actually, I didn't think it was to risky of a prediction except that this was Massachusetts and a Kennedy's seat held for 50 years and Kennedy's life goal was health care reform which ironically was in a big part what Brown campaigned against (go to a little over 3 minutes of final debate between Brown and Coakley at Video of debate between Coakley, Brown and Kennedy for Massachusetts Senate seat.).

Even those in Europe got the message. Check out this recent speech at the EU by MEP Hannan at Conservative MEP in the UK uses the recent victory of the people in Massachusetts and American history to inspire a revolution of the voters in Europe vs. the EU.

But my favorite is the BBC News description of the victory. BBC News had one of the best descriptions of the victory in Massachusetts. See BBC News on Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts: "...a shock victory...a huge blow...a humiliating blow...one of the biggest political upset in years...a referendum on his first year in office...". This is indeed one of the biggest political upsets in years. BBC News description of what this means and was about is dead on target.

Check out this video as Republican Representative in the House describes what some did when they lost hope of killing the health care reform bill at: Rep. King reports on the House floor that he and Grassley prayed that the Republican would win in Massachusetts when the Republican was down some 30 points in the polls.. Last week before the Brown win Values Voter News reported: "All political eyes will be on Massachusetts Tuesday. History is in the working....If Brown pulls this off in Massachusetts filling the seat of popular Massachusetts Senator Kennedy after Obama, Kerry and the current Governor of Massachusetts along with the Kennedy's have all been strongly endorsing Coakley what a blow to liberalism in America and the current congress and White House." And as BBC News describes boy was it not only a blow but a humiliating blow and referendum on Obama's first year in office (see Obama's average approval rating for first year in office according to Gallup polls puts him second only to Clinton for worst first year average approval rating.).

Some are calling this election the political "shot heard round the world" and when you look at the most viewed videos on You Tube in News and Politics you see this video in the tops from Germany to Sweden to Israel to Brazil to Russia and 15 other countries. Last Week In Review

All political eyes will be on Massachusetts Tuesday. History is in the working. Republican Brown and Democrat Coakley are running to replace Senator Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts. This race was to be a blow out for the Democrats until about two weeks ago when the first poll that showed Brown even in single digits came out and since then Brown has taken a healthy lead of 5 or so points. If Brown pulls this off in Massachusetts filling the seat of popular Massachusetts Senator Kennedy after Obama, Kerry and the current Governor of Massachusetts along with the Kennedy's have all been strongly endorsing Coakley what a blow to liberalism in America and the current congress and White House. This could also effect the current health care legislation and the judges that Obama will nominate this last year that he will have this many Democrats in Congress. This is a big vote with big consequences on what Obama and the Democrat led congress will be able to do this last year with a Democrat majority. Most predict the super majority will be lost after this year which is not that hard of a prediction though things can change.

Actually, even if Brown looses this is already being viewed as a blow to the current Congress and White House the fact that the race is even close in liberal Massachusetts replacing such a prestigious seat as that of a Kennedy and not only that but liberal and Democrat Kennedy held this seat for 46 years and would normally be a yes vote on ObamaCare as health care reform was his life's work. Much more could be said here but I will leave it at that.

Last Week in Review

President Obama has worse polling numbers than Bush in his last year of office according to Rasmussen's disapproval ratings in December and now Gallup concurs as Obama starts off January 2010 with the worst disapproval rating since Eisenhower. See: President Obama has his worst monthly approval rating yet in December and people identifying themselves as Democrat is at an all time low as Republicans gain their biggest lead in the congressional polling.

Just a note of interest at Values Voter News the most key worded entry that comes to Values Voter News is "obama approval rating chart" which has continued to spike since late October which is consistent with Google trends spike. It is great that there are alternative media sources that fill the gaps that Big Media seem to miss. This I believe is one of them. Big Media has been finally coming around to reporting on some of what has been in the alternative media for some time and as Obama's popularity drops despite Big Media I think Big Media will start coming around and be quite different in 2010 than 2009 thanks to the alternative media sources. They will probably still have their liberal slant though. For both sides on the current issues see AvoidtheBias.com.

One of the reasons for the rise in Obama's disapproval along with the economy, Gitmo detainee trials, unpopular abortion positions, current health care bill, national security, a growing monster of a government with no tangible result as of yet and broken campaign promises the latest being highlighted below on the legislative process of this health care bill.

Now to be fair our President has stepped into a rough economy but at the same time has done a lot of very unpopular things besides not meeting his objective on job creation as noted above and below is maybe the latest along with the national security failure.

Last Week in Review

Finally, the pro-life amendment that pro-lifers were waiting for passed with flying colors in the House just before the House health care reform bill barely passed 220-115. As reported earlier tax payer funding of abortion was what was blocking health care reform in the House (see The Two Hang Ups currently blocking passage of health care reform: one in the House and one in the Senate). This health care bill barely passed not because of Republicans but because of disagreements within the Democrat's own party over tax payer funding of abortion. Even though Nancy Pelosi is pro-choice she had to allow a vote on a pro-life amendment which she knew would pass but in order to get the bill passed she had to do it. So far this has been the only bi-partisan support of the Health Care reform bill. The amendment passed 240-194 with 64 democrats agreeing with Republicans that tax payers should not have to fund abortions in health care. According to pro-life Republicans and Democrats alike they are claiming this to be one of the biggest pro-life victories since the partial birth abortion ban law was passed. There is still a long way to go before this health care reform passes. The Senate has to pass there version then it goes to conference to merge and then another vote depending on how that merge goes. In the merge they can take out the amendment but if they do then the bill in its merged entirety will have to be voted on once again. So there is a long way to go. Remember: It ain't over till it's over
